History will be made as we join the very first wave of travelers. You will feel the excitement in the air as you step on board with the Cuban music, the Cuban movies and the Cuban cuisine.

More than a half century has passed since U.S. travelers have visited Cuba by sea. The itinerary includes the port cities of Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba. On this historic trip you will connect with the Cuban people one on one and experience their every day lives and learn of their personal stories.

On Monday the ship will arrive in Havana and your journey begins. You will visit historic sites, modern sites, see those famous american cars. You can finally taste the Cuban rum and dance to the legendary rhythms of this island.

The next port city, Cienfuegos, the pearl of the south the port is called. Known for being the center of Cuba's sugar, tobacco and coffee trades. The day includes a private performance by the renowned capella Choir Cienfuegos, and afterwards the opportunity to mingle with the musicians.

"Our final port is Santiago de Cuba, capital of the Spanish colony of Cuba from 1522 until 1589 and still the island's most important city after Havana."

Here you will get a close up view of the cannons used during the Spanish - American war, where the battle of San Juan Hill occurred.

LIKE A HERO GOING HOME ...

During my transport from one hospital to the next I lay wondering if I would see all those that mattered to me again. The last 10 months I had been working day and night with few days off. Sometimes with no sleep for 2 or 3 days. "That is how people die" my Mother would say to me. But I kept on going.
I have always been fortunate enough that when it came to my work, I loved what I was doing. I spent 22 years in the restaurant business and worked quickly up to management. I was passionate on making sure my customers had a pleasant experience. I was equally as passionate with my employees.
I then found myself in the hearing aid business and there is nothing that can compare to the joy of helping someone hear the birds sing once again, of listening to the sound of raindrops fall, or to hear a child's voice again. I have been there myself. I wear hearing aids. Another passion.
And since going into the insurance business, I have become like a child trying to decide which candy I like the best. So many interesting fields to choose from. Most of my days are of putting puzzles together for people to simplify for them how they can reach their financial goals. How to protect their assets. To diversify. Get their children a college fund. To protect themselves from an event that could cause them a catastrophic financial loss. I have found yet another passion.
But on that day of my transport and with my life cradled inside the hands of 2 perfect strangers, I realized I wanted to reach out with that same kind of passion and embrace my family. My friends . My teachers. With people I have yet to meet. My future.
I was reminded of what Tecumseh, the Shawnee Leader once said, "Sing your death song like a hero going home" I asked myself and God, was I worthy enough to sing like a hero going home?
Arriving at the hospital, just before my gurney was lifted to exit the ambulance, I thought I heard someone whisper, "I suppose not"
